Pokey's- 2002 Safari
by Heather
There were 16 vehicles on the Pokey's Run jeep trail on Friday, with Rick as our
leader. It rained off and on throughout the day, but there was still some good
wheeling. A magazine photographer rode with our group and got some great shots
in a couple of ravines and small creek beds. There were some steep hills, and
because of the rain most of them were slick with mud (as were tires). However,
it made for some interesting climbs. As far as I can remember, there were no accidents
or any serious breakage, but there was quite a bit of strapping/winching because
of the rain. The coolest vehicle on our trail was probably the blue and white
commando - he seemed to be able to drive through everything. Despite the good
wheeling, it was nice to get back to town and into some dry clothes and have a
great meal!
Thanks for everything, The Fritz'
